HBO Max has officially announced the renewal of And Just Like That, the Sex and the City spinoff series, for a second season. Showrunner Michael Patrick King is excited to continue telling stories featuring the show's vibrant and bold characters, portrayed by talented actors. Head of original content for HBO Max, Sarah Aubrey, expressed pride in the hard work of the writers, producers, cast, and crew, and is eagerly anticipating what season two has in store.
The first season of And Just Like That premiered in December 2021, with Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis reprising their roles as Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York. However, Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones in the original series and two movies, did not return. The series also faced challenges such as the death of Willie Garson, who played Carrie's friend Stanford Blatch, and allegations of sexual assault against Chris Noth, who played Mr Big.
The first trailer for season two, released in April 2023, revealed that John Corbett will return as Aidan Shaw, Carrie's past love interest. The upcoming season was filmed in August 2022, and Cynthia Nixon will direct an episode.
