BTS, the global phenomenon dominating the K-pop scene and reigning as one of the most influential music acts worldwide, is slated for an extended break until 2025 due to the imminent enlistment of four of its members—RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook—in the Korean military.

This announcement, shared by Big Hit Music on social media, confirms the initiation of the military enlistment process for the aforementioned members. The company expressed gratitude for fans' continuous support and pledged unwavering assistance to the artists during their service.
With Jin having enlisted last December, followed by J-Hope in April and Suga already fulfilling his military duty, the band's hiatus was inevitable.
According to reports from Korean media, the four members had the option to postpone their service until they reached the age of 30, based on a revised conscription law from 2020. However, they've chosen to expedite the process, likely facing enlistment later this year or early in 2024, with hopes of reuniting as a full group in 2025.
Since Jin's enlistment nearly a year ago, BTS has gradually geared down its activities, allowing individual members to explore solo ventures successfully. Notably, all seven members have made their mark on the Billboard charts independently, signalling their vast individual potential.
Despite the impending hiatus, BTS recently renewed their contracts with Big Hit Music in anticipation of regrouping after this involuntary break. The parent company, Hybe Corp., highlighted their plans to consider the military service status of the members and reassured that those currently serving will have completed their duty by the contract's renewed period in 2025, fostering hope for the band's return to the spotlight.
