An investigation has been launched by Forest Department officials after actress Raveena Tandon shared a video on social media, where she stood in close proximity to a tiger in Satpura Tiger Reserve. The video became quickly viral on social media post the actress's visit to the reserve in the Narmadapuram district of Madhya Pradesh.
The actress had tweeted on her social media that, Tigers can be highly unpredictable wild animals in close proximity, but luckily for her tour group no sudden movements were made. The forest department's capable guides and drivers, drive licensed vehicles on the tourism path, and Lucy the tiger shown in this video is accustomed to coming near close proximity of tourists and snarling near vehicles”. In the following tweet, she also added that the guides are the ones who are aware of the legalities and boundaries of nearing a tiger’s close proximity, thus they were the ones responsible for her actions.
Dheeraj Singh Chauhan, the Sub-divisional Officer of the forest said in a statement that upon receiving directives from higher officials he has launched an investigation into the matter. He also added that the guides, drivers and other officials present during Tandon’s visit on November 22, will each receive a notice for show cause.
The actress had shared photos taken on her safari, where the tigress was seen with her cubs. Her tweet said, “Got beautiful shots of tigress Sharmilee and her cubs in Tadoba. Due to the unpredictable and unreadable nature of our subject’s, wildlife shots are unpredictable as one tries to be as silent as possible and capture the best moments. The video was taken using a Sony Zoom lens 200/400.”
