Ramoji Rao, 87, Ramoji film city founder passes away

Ramoji Rao, the pioneering businessman and media magnate behind Eenadu and Ramoji Film City, breathed his last on Saturday in Hyderabad, Telangana, after battling heart-related issues.

The visionary behind groundbreaking advancements in the news and entertainment sectors, Rao was 88 years old at the time of his passing. He had been undergoing treatment for respiratory problems since June 5 and succumbed to his condition at 4:50 am, as confirmed by sources from Eenadu. His mortal remains were then transported to his residence within the iconic Ramoji Film City.

Who Was Ramoji Rao?

Born on November 16, 1936, Ramoji Rao was at the helm of the Ramoji Group, which boasts the world's largest film production complex, Ramoji Film City.

His entrepreneurial ventures included the establishment of the Eenadu newspaper, the ETV Network of TV channels, and the film production company Usha Kiran Movies.

Additionally, Rao was honored with the prestigious Padma Vibhushan, India's second-highest civilian award.

The Ramoji Group encompasses various enterprises, including Margadarsi Chit Fund, Eenadu newspaper, ETV Network, Ramadevi Public School, Priya Foods, Kalanjali, Ushakiran Movies, and the Ramoji Film City situated near Hyderabad.

Furthermore, he held the position of chairman within the Dolphin Group of Hotels in Andhra Pradesh.
