Telugu actor Ram Charan has been invited to join the Actors Branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). This announcement comes shortly after fellow Telugu star Jr. NTR was also welcomed into the academy.
Ram Charan's name was listed alongside other actors from around the world, including Lashana Lynch, Vicky Krieps, and Keke Palmer. This recognition follows the success of the film RRR, which won an Oscar for Best Original Song.
In addition to Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, several other Indian artists were invited to join the academy, including cinematographer KK Senthil Kumar, musicians MM Keeravani and Chandrabose, and producers Karan Johar and Siddharth Roy Kapur.
The Academy praised the actors for their nuanced performances and dedication to authenticity. Meanwhile, Ram Charan is currently filming S. Shankar's Game Changer, a big-budget film featuring Kiara Advani and several other notable actors.
