Pune's Swatantra Theatre Group revives Malgudi Days Magic

The renowned Swatantra Theatre Group, celebrated for its outstanding performances in Maharashtra, is poised to bring vibrancy to the second edition of the Vizag Junior Theatre Festival (VJTF) with captivating interpretations from 'Malgudi Days’. Organized by LitLantern for Culture and Literature Welfare Society, this three-day spectacle will unfold at the VMRDA Children’s Arena from November 25 to 27.

Swatantra Theatre will showcase a diverse ensemble, blending the talents of both child and adult actors to bring to life the timeless narratives of RK Narayan's "Malgudi Days”. The cast features the nine-year-old prodigy Kavya Dand, alongside three other remarkable child actors and fifteen seasoned adult performers. This fusion of youthful enthusiasm and experienced artistry promises to deliver a transcendent theatrical experience, bridging generation gaps.

Besides, the Swatantra Group is excited to involve young minds in inspiring and interactive workshops. These workshops aim to encourage creativity and a love for the performing arts. Lit Lantern's VJTF 2023 intends to celebrate culture, literature, and the many possibilities of theatre. Manjunath Nayaker, the actor who played Swami in the popular TV series Malgudi Days, sent his best wishes to the play and interacted with the entire cast and crew.

The diverse cast includes Dhanashree Heblikar, Prem Gowda, Ashwin Sharma, Moksha Shah, Kavya Dand, Kuhika Srivastav, Kushal Sahane, Raajveer, Bhargav Chaudhari, and more. The creative direction and adaptation are done by Dhanashree Heblikar, directed by Abhijeet Choudhary, produced by Yuwaraj Shah, lights by Chetan Dhawle, and set design by Prem Gowda and Aarsvi Joshi. The music, composed by Dhanashree Heblikar, features arrangements by Kushal Sahane.
