 The Controversy-

Christopher Nolan's new blockbuster film "Oppenheimer" has stirred controversy among the Hindu-right in India. Some are demanding a boycott and the removal of a sex scene in which the protagonist utters a famous verse from the religion's sacred scripture, before a sexual encounter.

The film, released in India last Friday with much hype, received a U/A rating from the Central Board of Film Certification, suggesting parental guidance for viewers under 12 years old. The movie "Oppenheimer" draws inspiration from the biography "American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer,"  a book penned by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin. Alongside "Oppenheimer," the film features an impressive cast, including Rami Malek, Gary Oldman, Dane DeHaan, Josh Hartnett, Kenneth Branagh, Matthew Modine, Casey Affleck, Alden Ehrenreich, and Jason Clarke.

The Box Office Collection-

On Monday, "Oppenheimer" performed strongly at the Indian box office, earning Rs. 8 crores. This adds up to a total collection of around Rs. 67 crores in four days. The drop in collections from Sunday was 60%, which is usual for English films. Typically, Hollywood movies have higher performance on weekends and experience larger drops on weekdays. Interestingly, "Oppenheimer" surpassed the Monday collections of other recent Hollywood films like "Fast X" and "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning," which had similar earnings on Saturday and Sunday.
