Actor Nicholas Hoult is presently in negotiations to star in James Gunn's Superman: Legacy as Lex Luthor. The addition of Nicholas Hoult as the Man of Steel's foe completes the main cast of the superhero reboot. Rachel Brosnahan and David Corenswet have previously been hired as Clark Kent and Lois Lane, respectively.
Actor Hoult was supposedly considered for the lead role, but Gunn chose him to portray the part of industry mogul Luthor, who has a bald head and a deep-seated obsession with eliminating the Last Son of Krypton.
Since the actors' strike ended, Gunn has been working hard to complete his ensemble. On social media, he verified that Maria Gabriela de Faria had just been cast as the Engineer, another villain. According to reports, Superman will have the support of the superheroes Green Lantern (Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), Mister Terrific (Edi Gathegi), and Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan).
Superman: Legacy is still moving forward, according to Gunn, even after the WGA and SAG-AFTRA shut down Hollywood for several months. It will continue to be released on July 11, 2025, as planned.
