Netflix buy Jawan streaming rights for a whopping 250 crores

Shah Rukh Khan, the Bollywood superstar, made a triumphant comeback to the silver screen in 2023 after a five-year hiatus. With the release of "Pathaan" earlier this year, he started the year with a bang, and now he's revelling in the enormous success of "Jawan," which is packing theatres nationwide.

Jawan: A Box Office Phenomenon

"Jawan" has rewritten the record books, becoming the first Indian film to cross the Rs 200 crore mark at the box office in just three days. The film hit theatres on September 7, 2023, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami, and it has already raked in a staggering Rs 300 crore in just five days.

Massive OTT Deal with Netflix

While fans continue to flock to theatres to enjoy "Jawan," reports have surfaced that the OTT rights for the movie have been snapped up for an eye-popping sum. Netflix has reportedly acquired the rights for "Jawan" for a jaw-dropping Rs 250 crore. Although an official streaming date is yet to be announced, given the film's outstanding response in theatres, fans may need to exercise patience before they can savour it from the comfort of their homes.

About "Jawan"

Directed by South Indian filmmaker Atlee, "Jawan" marks Shah Rukh Khan's first collaboration with him and has been produced by Gauri Khan under their home banner, Red Chillies. The film has generated buzz not only for SRK's on-screen chemistry with Nayanthara but also for Vijay Sethupathi's compelling portrayal as the film's ruthless antagonist.

Adding to the star-studded cast, Deepika Padukone makes a special cameo appearance in "Jawan." The movie also features Ridhi Dogra, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Girija Oak, Lehar Khan, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Sunil Grover, and Mukesh Chhabra, creating a cinematic extravaganza that has taken the Indian film industry by storm.
