Actor Michael Douglas, accompanied by his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones and son Dylan, is gearing up for a week-long journey to India, having received an invitation during the 76th Cannes Film Festival in May. Their primary destination is the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, scheduled from November 20 to 28.
During this brief period, an intimate dinner is planned in his honour, celebrating his 25 years in the industry. Producer Shailendra Singh will host a bash that same night, attended by Michael and various Bollywood celebrities.
Michael Douglas has a busy schedule with 78 engagements, including dinners hosted by Pramod Sawant, the Chief Minister of Goa and Anurag Thakur, the Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting.
A notable event on the agenda is the presentation of the Satyajit Ray Excellence in Film Lifetime Award to Michael Douglas on the concluding day of IFFI 2023. This award ceremony is expected to be a highlight of the festival, acknowledging the Hollywood actor's outstanding contributions to the cinematic world.
Michael Douglas, in an interview at Cannes, shared his excitement about exploring the southern part of India, particularly, the region "from Hyderabad to Goa" during this upcoming trip. Previously, he had visited India with Catherine and praised her as a "pretty good Bollywood dancer" who has a genuine love for the country.
Additionally, there are rumours that Douglas may extend his journey to southern India, providing him with the opportunity to meet and engage with prominent actors from the southern film industry.
