Madhuri Dixit receives 'Special Recognitionโ€™ Award for Contribution to Bharatiya Cinema at 54th IFFI

Madhuri Dixit, known as the Bollywood Dhak Dhak Girl, received a Special Recognition for her contribution to Indian cinema at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), as a tribute to the legendary actress for her outstanding acting career in the Indian movie industry.

IFFI is the star-studded nine-day festival that commenced on Monday, November 20, at the Shyam Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Goa, with Madhuri set to showcase her spectacular performance on a medley of her alltime hit songs during the event. The awards will end on November 28.

Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur praised Dixit for her exceptional talent. He took to X and wrote, "An icon across the ages, @MadhuriDixit has graced our screens with unparalleled talent for four incredible decades. From the effervescent Nisha to the captivating Chandramukhi, the majestic Begum Para to the indomitable Rajjo, her versatility knows no bounds. Today, we are filled with admiration as we present the 'Special Recognition for Contribution to Bharatiya Cinema' Award to the talented , charismatic actress who has redefined excellence in cinema, at the 54th International Film Festival of India. A celebration of an extraordinary journey, a tribute to an everlasting legacy!"

The 54th IFFI Awards had a star-studded guest list from Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Sunny Deol, Karan Johar, Shreya Ghoshal, Shantanu Moitra, Sukhwinder Singh to Vijay Sethupathi.

As per the press release from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the thriller "Catching Dust" by acclaimed British filmmaker Stuart Gatt is chosen for the opening. The mid-festival film will be "About Dry Grasses," directed by French filmmaker Nuri Bilge Ceylan, and the closing film for the 54th IFFI is "The Featherweight," directed by Robert Kolodny.

Rajkumar Hirani will lead the five-member jury for the Best Web Series (OTT) award at the festival. Joining him on the jury panel for this inaugural category are Divya Dutta, Prosenjit Chatterjee, and filmmakers Krishna DK and Utpal Borpujari.

The inaugural Best Web Series award features 32 entries from 15 OTT platforms across 10 languages.
