When K-pop Stars Become Victims of Sexual Misconduct

While some K-pop stars have been accused of sexual misconduct, others have found themselves victims of exploitation and abuse, often at the hands of their own agencies.

  • Omega X: In November 2022, members of the boy band Omega X requested to be released from their multiyear contract with Spire Entertainment. They cited the abusive behavior of agency executive Kang Seong-hee during a performance in Los Angeles as the reason for their discontent. Although Kang resigned, she denied any wrongdoing.

  • Lee Seok-cheol and Lee Seung-hyun: In 2019, brothers and K-pop singers Lee Seok-cheol and Lee Seung-hyun accused their producer and agency of assault and verbal threats. The court ruled in favor of the brothers, fining the agency and sentencing the producer to prison.
