One day after attending the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha event in Ayodhya, actor Kangana Ranaut revealed the release date of her upcoming film Emergency. Kangana also posted a new Emergency poster on Instagram on Tuesday. Kangana is also the film's writer and director. Kangana portrayed Indira Gandhi, the former prime minister, in the poster.

According to PTI, Kangana stated, "Emergency is my most ambitious project and second directorial post-Manikarnika, and we have the best of Indian and international talent come together for this big budget, grand period drama."
Due to alterations in her schedule, the film's original November 24, 2023, theatrical release date was rescheduled.
Emergency, produced by Zed Studios and Manikarnika Films, is billed as a mega-budget dramatization of the most divisive event in Indian democracy history. "Standing at the core of this is one of the most sensational leaders of all time the first woman prime minister of India, Mrs Indira Gandhi," according to the official logline.
Kangana on directing and performing in Emergency
The film also stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik. The movie's screenplay and dialogue were written by Ritesh Shah. The film centers on the life of the late politician Indira Gandhi, who is portrayed by Kangana in the title role. Emergency is the first film that Kangana has directed by herself.
According to ANI, Kangana previously stated, "Emergency is one of the most significant and darkest chapters in our history that young India needs to know."
