Japanese Film Festival India's Grand Opening: 'We Made a Beautiful Bouquet' Unveiled!

The Japanese Film Festival (JFF) India's sixth edition has officially kicked off in India, commencing with the screening of the highly anticipated film "We Made a Beautiful Bouquet," penned by renowned screenwriter Yuji Sakamoto and directed by Nobuhiro Doi. This four-month-long cinematic extravaganza, presented in collaboration with PVR INOX, is set to tour seven cities across India from October 2023 to January 2024, as per a press release.

Koji Yoshida, the Director of the (JIC) Japan Information Centre and the Embassy of Japan in India, and Koji Sato, Director General of the Japan Foundation, film critics, and members of the Japan Foundation and Japan Embassy, attended the opening ceremony.

"We are overjoyed that the JFF, which started in 2017, is now in its 6th edition and has become an annual event in India. It goes without saying that anime is very famous in India, but we hope that through this film festival, people will also be able to discover the appeal of the Japanese feature films," Koji Sato stated.

Influencers and cosplayers from Delhi attended the screening of “We made a beautiful bouquet” along with Delhi Anime Club members and Delhi Film Club members.

After showcasing in Delhi on Sunday, the movie gala will take place in Hyderabad and Chennai between November 2 and 5 then it will be followed by Mumbai and Bengaluru from November 7 to 10. And lastly between November 18 and January 21, the JFF India 2023 will take place in Kolkata and Pune.

The highlight of JFF India this year is the screening of popular anime from the “Detective Conan” series, as well as the 4K remaster edition of “Lupin The Third: The Castle of Cagliostro,” Hayao Miyazaki’s first anime film, released in 1979.

This  sixth edition will also showcase 10 masterpieces, including "A Man", "Anime Supremacy!," "Intolerance," "MONDAYS: See you 'this' week!", "Detective Conan: Episode ONE ‘Detective Conan the Movie: Crossroad in the Ancient Capital", "Father of the Milky Way Railroad", and "Detective Conan the Movie: The Last Wizard of the Century".
