Gulmohar: Is it for you to watch?

An engaging, sweet family drama that cracks open the darkest corners of the mind and heart and investigates the disturbing fears and secrets that are hidden there. Gulmohar, a charming family drama streaming on Disney+Hotstar, celebrates the healing potential of the family while confronting the trauma of disruption brought on by quirks of destiny or as repercussions of individual decisions.

It flips open corners of the mind and the heart and probes the discomforting secrets and fears that lie buried there.

Given that Sharmila Tagore, Manoj Bajpayee, Simran, and Amol Palekar lead the cast, a slew of outstanding performances buoys Gulmohar. The intimate and insightful narrative gains weight thanks to the experienced quartet. They do so with unwavering, clinical precision and convey a wide range of emotions.

In the end, Gulmohar is quite moving because of a lot of committed performances. If you only knew Bajpayee from his fiery early roles, his recent work shows a gentleness that would seem impossible.

He is clearly moved to be in the same space as Tagore and holds the film together.

Suraj Sharma, who is underappreciated, is fine as Aditya, a stern, self-deprecating character. In addition, Goswami, Santhy, Anuraag Arora, and Chandan Roy, whose sole responsibility is to launch sunny provocations like in Panchayat, do excellent work from the sidelines. Goswami is somber and striking, as he was in Delhi Crime.
