Ground-shaking concert for Taylor Swift - Fans cause 2.3 magnitude mini earthquake

During her Eras Tour event in Seattle, Taylor Swift's fans cause a 2.3-magnitude earthquake.

Swifties, as her dedicated fans are called, caused seismic activity of 2.3 magnitude at Taylor Swift's Eras Tour concert at Lumen Field, Seattle, breaking a record of gigantic proportions.

The historic incident took place over the weekend when Swift played two sold-out gigs back-to-back for a massive audience of 1,44,000 people. It's been compared to the fabled 2011 "Beast Quake".

The "Beast Quake" happened when Seattle Seahawks supporters erupted following a spectacular touchdown by running back Marshawn Lynch.

According to seismologist Jackie Caplan-Auerbach, a geology professor at Western Washington University, the euphoric celebration was recorded on the same local seismometer as the Swift concert.

She added, “I grabbed the data from both nights of the concert and quickly noticed they were clearly the same pattern of signals.” She continued by saying that if she overlays them on top of each other, they’re nearly identical.

Although "Beast Quake" and "Swift Quake" only differ in magnitude by 0.3, according to Caplan-Auerbach, the Swifties outperformed Seahawk supporters because the shaking was twice as strong.
