Each time Bollywood tried to get away with a tricolour joke

There have been numerous incidents when Bollywood has tried to disrespect the Indian tricolor, whether it's in a movie or a show. The Indian Tricolor is not for anyone’s entertainment.

Many people want to flaunt their patriotism at any movie or television show, a cricket victory, or anything else that makes them feel patriotic. However, interpreting the word "wearing" too literally can turn what was intended to be a tribute to the Tricolor into a legal dispute for "insulting" the flag.

Deepika Padukone’s Saffron Bikini

1. The Pathaan Controversy: Deepika Padukone’s Saffron Bikini, an Insult to the Indian Tricolor

It is now widely known that Bollywood has been the target of a vile online campaign to boycott the films of those actors who disrespect our Tricolor or our country's sentiments. The superstar's Shah Rukh Khan (SRK) and Aamir Khan are the actors who are most frequently targeted.

The release of SRK's most recent movie, "Pathaan," is scheduled for next month, but Madhya Pradesh's Home Minister, Narottam Mishra, has already vowed to prohibit it. Mishra took issue with actor Deepika Padukone's swimsuit in a song from the movie this week.

The minister's particular issue is that Deepika is wearing orange, which is similar to saffron, one of the colors of our flag. Additionally, there is the not-so-subtle implication that SRK is wearing a green shirt in the same song, which is the second hue of our nation's tricolor.

With the arrest of his kid, who was later found to have been unfairly imprisoned and intentionally targeted, Shah Rukh Khan has been through hell.

Some more incidents have resulted in disrespect for our Tricolor Flag.

Amitabh Bachchan chose to wave a tricolor

2. Is performing a victory dance disrespectful to the country?

Amitabh Bachchan chose to wave a tricolor and convey his excitement at donning it to commemorate India's World Cup triumph over Pakistan in February. He had posted on his blog, "Such a huge thrill when you throw the national flag over your shoulders, wrapped around in patriotic fervor... it is the ultimate emotion." A charge was brought against him and Abhishek in June for "covering their bodies with the flag in a manner disrespectful to the nation," but it took several months for someone to realize they were upset.

Shah Rukh was photographed carrying the tricolor upside down

3. A flashback to the past

Little did they know that a brief slip-up would result in their being arrested by the police a year later, when India won the Cricket World Cup in 2011, and everyone, including Bollywood celebrities, went out on the streets waving tricolors to celebrate. Shah Rukh was photographed carrying the tricolor upside down while celebrating in 2012, and although the deed went unnoticed at the time it occurred, it wasn't too late to file a complaint. As I was browsing the internet, I came across these images of SRK waving the Indian flag in Mumbai. He disregarded the fact that the green color was on top and the saffron color was at the bottom, according to the complainant. The Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, was used to charge SRK as well.

We are a deeply sentimental and patriotic nation, as well as a deeply sensitive one when it comes to issues involving nationalism, patriotism, and similar sentiments.
