One of the largest streaming services in the nation, Disney+ Hotstar, will stop carrying HBO content from March 31 as its parent company, The Walt Disney Corporation, implements a cost-cutting reorganisation strategy to make its streaming business profitable.
Tuesday night, the update was posted on the OTT player's official Twitter account in response to a question from a fan concerning the availability of Season 2 of the television series "Perry Mason" on Disney+ Hotstar. "HBO programming will no longer be available on Disney+ Hotstar as of March 31. You may keep watching Disney+ Hotstar's extensive catalogue of programming, which includes more than 100,000 hours of TV shows, movies, and coverage of important international sporting events in 10 languages, the streaming service announced on Twitter.
This would mean successful shows such as The Game of Thrones, The Last Of Us and Succession will move away from Disney+ Hotstar, which is already contending with the loss of 3.8 million subscribers or 6% of its total base during the October-December quarter due to the IPL void.
