Cirkus is a 2022 Indian Hindi language period comedy film.

This film is based on William Shakespeare's play, "The Comedy of Errors."

Rohit Shetty is truly used to entertaining his audiences with family-oriented slapstick humor. Let's just say he doesn't do it this time.

And he has Ranveer Singh in a double role. Audiences who sometimes can't get enough of one Ranveer, let alone two, this time couldn't stand the presence of even a single one.

Trust Bollywood and its ageing mechanisms to charm its audiences with nonsensical, mindless comedy and song-n-dance routines, and you are in for a colossal disappointment yet again.

Yes, there was a Golmaal that one can credit to Rohit. And yes, there have been many Golmaals ever since. One alternative to that was the Singham franchise created by Rohit.

While Bollywood's supposed comedy king's style wasn't always regarded as manna from heaven, the current one clearly takes the crown in terms of how low the dialogue-writers' efforts could sink. And that's how we end our 2022, boohoo!

This film is based on William Shakespeare's play, "The Comedy of Errors."

Cirkus begins in the 1960s, when two pairs of orphans are adopted by two separate families: one in Bangalore and one in Ooty.

But thanks to an overly smart doctor, the twins get switched for reasons best known to Rohit Shetty's science understanding.

They grow up to be two different men: one married to Mala (Pooja Hegde), while another dates Bindu (Jacqueline Fernandez).

Let's not bore you with the plot. But the first half was okay and the second half was below-okay so ensure you have your popcorn and lemonades in place so that you're not in a complete brain freeze.

The colours might be a bit too much to take since it seems Rohit employed a 2nd-standard colouring kid who went berserk with his/her spray gun on the graphics.

The actors and characters are the same; they come from Rohit Shetty's payrolls, so not surprised. Ranveer Singh and Varun Sharma, both known for their otherwise impeccable comic timing, deliver lines that fall flat.

Being shot in Ooty, Cirkus was theatrically released on 23 December 2022, to negative reviews from critics and the audience. We are lost on our hopes with Bollywood.
