Well Congratulations to Buzz Aldrin! He celebrated his 93rd birthday by marrying his longtime girlfriend Anca Faur, 63. Aldrin is best known as the second person to walk on the moon in 1969. This is his fourth marriage.
Buzz Aldrin is an American astronaut and engineer who is best known for being one of the first two humans to walk on the moon, during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969. He was the Lunar Module Pilot on the Apollo 11 mission and the second person to set foot on the lunar surface, following mission commander Neil Armstrong.
Before joining NASA, Aldrin served as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force, where he flew 66 combat missions during the Korean War. After the Apollo 11 mission, Aldrin served as a member of the backup crew for the Apollo 14 mission and was later the Command Module Pilot for the Apollo 12 mission.
Aldrin holds a Doctorate in astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He has written several books, including his autobiography "Return to Earth" (1973) and his science fiction novel "Encounter with Tiber" (1996). Aldrin has advocated for a permanent human presence on the Moon and for the use of the lunar surface as a proving ground for Mars missions.
He has been honoured with numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to space exploration, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1969. In 2011, Aldrin was inducted into the U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame.
Aldrin is also known for his work on developing a "Aldrin cycler" concept, a spacecraft that would continually shuttle between Earth and Mars, making travel to the red planet more efficient.
