BTS debut book 'Beyond the Story' tops New York Times Best Seller list

The English-language edition of a book on the K-pop phenom BTS has swept the nation's bookshops. It topped The New York Times Best Seller list for hardcover non-fiction on Wednesday with the title Beyond The Story: 10-Year Record Of BTS. Rankings on the newspaper's weekly list take into account sales for the week ending July 15 including preorders. It is the first time a South Korean author's book has been in the first place. It was co-written by BTS members and South Korean journalist Kang Myeong-Seok, and it was made public earlier in July by the boy band's management company to commemorate the septet's 10-year milestone. Clare Richards, Slin Jung, and Anton Hur worked together to translate the book into English.

On July 9, the day of its publication, Beyond The Story's translations dominated the top rankings on Amazon in the US, UK, Brazil, Australia, and Japan. The number of pre-orders was the largest ever in Brazil. The book is also the top non-fiction choice on the bestselling lists at Times and Popular Bookshops in Singapore. Shortly after taking pre-orders on June 15, major online booksellers in South Korea saw the Korean-language edition ascend to the No. 1 position nationwide. The book debuted at the top of Kyobo Bookstore's weekly bestselling list for both online and offline sales after its publication. The book, which took years to organise and put together, includes essays, images, and interviews with BTS members to commemorate the 10 years since their 2013 debut.
