Birds of a Feather" by Billie Eilish tops Spotify charts with a whopping 1.775 billion streams to make it the most-streamed song of 2024. The breezy pop hit is taken from her third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, which was co-written by Billie and her brother, Finneas.
Success on the Charts
The song has been a massive hit on many platforms. Although it peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, it has ruled the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart for 21 weeks in a row. As if that's not enough, "Birds of a Feather" has also earned three Grammy nominations: Song of the Year, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Solo Performance.

In a behind-the-scenes video on Billie's YouTube channel, Finneas revealed the inspiration behind the track. "There's a lot of songs about dying for somebody and loving them until they die, and I thought it was really fun to lean in," he explained.
Glory for Hit Me Hard and Soft
The album Hit Me Hard and Soft is also competing for Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album at the Grammys next year. A lead single, "Lunch," is nominated in the Best Music Video category. Another track, "L'Amour de Ma Vie [Over Now Extended Version]," is competing for Best Pop Dance Recording.
Already with nine Grammy wins from 32 nominations, Billie Eilish is just 23 years old. She took home two for Song of the Year and Record of the Year. Her brother and collaborator, Finneas, has a total of 10 Grammy wins from 17 nominations and made history as the youngest person ever to be named Producer of the Year when he won at 22.
The Strings Behind the Album
Finneas credited his work on the Apple TV+ series Disclaimer for influencing the string overtures on Eilish’s latest album. “I’d work on Disclaimer right before Billie would come over, then return to it afterward. That experience taught me how to incorporate motifs, something we’ve always admired in albums like Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road,” Finneas shared with The Hollywood Reporter.
