Bigg Boss Kannada 12 Resumes: Deputy CM DK Shivakumar Steps In to Save the Show!

Bigg Boss Kannada 12 is back on screens, and fans couldn’t be more thrilled. The popular reality TV show, hosted by the charismatic Kichcha Sudeep, faced an unexpected and dramatic halt earlier this week when the Bengaluru South District authorities sealed the Vels Studio (popularly known as Jollywood) in Bidadi Industrial Area. The closure was imposed over alleged violations of environmental regulations, specifically concerning water and air pollution.

The sudden suspension sent shockwaves through the entertainment community and the show’s loyal fanbase. Just ten days into its premiere on September 28, 2025, the show had to go off-air temporarily, and contestants were relocated from the Bigg Boss house. However, thanks to the timely intervention of Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, the issue was resolved swiftly, allowing the production team another chance to comply with environmental guidelines.

Kichcha Sudeep Expresses Gratitude for Timely Support

Kannada actor Kichcha Sudeep, who continues to host the popular reality show, took to social media to express his heartfelt thanks to Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. Sudeep highlighted that the show would not be discontinued, reassuring fans that Bigg Boss Kannada 12 is here to stay.

“I sincerely thank Hon. @DKShivakumar sir for the timely support. Also want to thank the concerned authorities for acknowledging that #BBK was not involved or was a part of the recent chaos or disturbances. I truly appreciate the DCM for promptly responding to my call, and thank #Nalpad for his dedicated efforts. #BBK12 is here to stay,” Sudeep wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

This statement not only conveyed his gratitude but also reassured viewers that the show’s continuity was secured, despite the temporary shutdown.

Bigg Boss Kannada 12: A Promising Start Interrupted

Season 12 of Bigg Boss Kannada premiered on September 28, 2025, drawing attention from fans and the Kannada entertainment industry alike. However, the excitement was short-lived. Just ten days after its premiere, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) ordered an immediate shutdown of Vels Studios in Bidadi, Bengaluru South District. The directive cited serious violations of environmental laws by Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited, which had been hosting the Bigg Boss Kannada production.

In response to the controversy, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar engaged in discussions with the KSPCB and directed the Deputy Commissioner to allow the studio an opportunity to address the issues and resume operations.

DK Shivakumar on Lifting the Ban

Taking to his official X handle, DK Shivakumar clarified his decision to lift the seal on the Jollywood premises. He emphasized the delicate balance between supporting employment and ensuring environmental compliance.

“Employment is important and give them an opportunity to rectify. I have directed the Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru South District to lift the seal on Jollywood premises in Bidadi, where Bigg Boss Kannada is being filmed. While environmental compliance remains a top priority, the studio will be given time to address violations in accordance with the norms set by the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board. I remain committed to supporting the Kannada entertainment industry, while also upholding our responsibility toward environmental protection,” Shivakumar posted.

His statement reassured both the entertainment industry and environmental advocates that while the show would resume, necessary environmental measures would still be enforced.

Understanding the Environmental Violation

The closure of the Bigg Boss Kannada 12 set came after KSPCB inspectors discovered significant lapses in environmental compliance. According to NDTV, untreated wastewater from the premises was being discharged openly, posing a serious threat to the surrounding ecosystem.

Although the production team claimed that a 250 KLD-capacity Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) had been installed, inspectors found that the facility lacked proper internal drainage connections. In effect, the STP units were lying idle and uncommissioned, leading to untreated wastewater flowing into the environment. In addition, reports highlighted poor waste management practices at the site.

This environmental lapse prompted the authorities to take swift action, sealing the premises and temporarily halting the reality show.

Bigg Boss Kannada to Resume From Friday

With the ban lifted and operations cleared to continue, Bigg Boss Kannada 12 is set to resume airing from Friday. Fans can catch the show Monday to Friday at 9:30 PM and on weekends at 9 PM.

The official X handle of Bigg Boss Kannada released a new promo confirming the show’s return, with a caption in Kannada: “At the same time as usual... Bigg Boss | Mon-Fri 9:30pm | Sat-Sun Night 9.” The promo reflects a strong comeback and a clear message to fans: the show is continuing without interruption.

Contestants Ready to Re-enter the House

Season 12 began with 19 contestants, and following the elimination of Karibasappa and RJ Amith, 17 housemates will now return to the Bigg Boss house. Returning contestants include Abhisheak, Chandrapraba, Dhanush, Jhanvi, Kavya, Manju Bhasini, Mallama, Maalu N, Rakshita, Sudheer, Satish, and others.

With the controversy now resolved, viewers can expect the show to regain its signature drama, emotion, and entertainment quotient that fans eagerly anticipate. The return of contestants promises new interactions, alliances, and the unpredictable twists that Bigg Boss Kannada is known for.

I remain committed to supporting the Kannada entertainment industry, while also upholding our responsibility toward environmental protection. #BiggBossKannada,” Shivakumar wrote on X.

Kichcha Sudeep, in response, reinforced his appreciation for the timely intervention. “I sincerely thank Hon @DKShivakumar sir for the timely support. Also want to thank the concerned authorities for acknowledging that #BBK was not involved or was a part of the recent chaos or disturbances.
