With her song "Texas Hold 'Em," Beyonce made history as the first black woman to top Billboard's Hot Country Songs list. The song, which came out along with "16 Carriages" during a surprise album reveal at the Super Bowl, was number one in just four days. Country music has a complicated history with black artists, and this success is a big step forward in that history.
Achievements and chart success
Beyoncé got to the top of both the Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts with her song "Texas Hold 'Em." She was the first woman to do that. People in the US alone played and downloaded the song 19.2 million times. It's not often that two charts are at the top of the same list. Beyonce has done that, along with Justin Bieber, Billy Ray Cyrus, Ray Charles, and Morgan Wallen.
Upcoming projects and major hits on the charts
Both "Texas Hold 'Em" and "16 Carriages" will be on Beyonce's new album, the second part of her Renaissance trilogy, which comes out on March 29. The singer's move into country music has not only made her famous, but it has also put her at No. 54 on the dedicated Country Airplay chart, which only tracks radio play.
