According to Forbes, Beyoncé has taken the Internal Revenue Service to the U.S. Tax Court. The 41-year-old musician has submitted a petition seeking a reassessment of nearly $2.7 million in tax liability imposed by the IRS in a Notice of Deficiency for 2018 and 2019. The IRS found in the Notice of Deficiency issued on Jan 18 that the "Lemonade" singer owes an extra $805,850.00 in taxes and $161,170 in penalties for the fiscal year 2018. In addition, the IRS concluded that an extra amount of $1,442,747.00 in taxes and $288,549.40 in penalties was due for the year 2019. Interest was applied by the IRS for both years. Beyoncé claimed in her petition that the IRS made a mistake by rejecting deductions worth millions of dollars for insurance, management fees, legal and professional services, utilities, taxes, depreciation, and other expenses.
