Animal is Adult K3G, says Ranbir Kapoor after film gets A certificate

At the trailer launch of his much hyped and anticipated film ‘Animal’ in New Delhi, Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor humorously compared his upcoming film, "Animal," to Karan Johar's "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" (K3G). 

He described it as an 'adult-rated' version with a core theme of a man going to great lengths to protect his family, after Animal received an 'A' certificate from the Central Board of Film Certificate (CBFC) due to the presence of violence and gore in the Film, making it appropriate for 18+ only.

Himesh Mankad conveyed the certification specifics for "Animal" in a post on X (formerly Twitter): “ANIMAL CERTIFIED A – ADULTS ONLY – BY CBFC – 3 HOURS 21 MINUTES! #RanbirKapoor is back as his first collaboration with #SandeepReddyVanga, #Animal, has been certified A by the censor board with an approved run time of 3 hours and 21 minutes."

‘About the Film’

‘Animal’, a crime drama film directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for films like "Arjun Reddy" and "Kabir Singh,' ' also starring Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol,  Rashmika Mandanna and Tripti Dimri. 

The trailer, launched on Thursday 23 November, depicts the story of Ranbir's character, whose attachment leads him into the trajectory of becoming a gangster, facing off with his nemesis portrayed by Bobby Deol. Trailer discloses that Anil Kapoor assumes the role of Ranbir's father in the movie, while Rashmika Mandanna takes on the role of his love interest.

The runtime of "Animal" is 3 hours and 21 minutes and is set to release on December 1 alongside Vicky Kaushal's "Sam Bahadur."

The release of the "Animal" movie was initially anticipated in August 2023. However, owing to scheduling conflicts, especially with major releases such as 'Gadar 2,' Akshay Kumar's 'OMG 2,' and Rajinikanth's 'Jailer' during that period, coupled with a tight schedule, the movie's makers opted to release it on December 1, 2023.

Film’s director Sandeep Reddy Vanga expressed pleasure in watching Ranbir Kapoor transform into a character different from his role in "Arjun Singh." He also explained that Bobby Deol was the first choice for the movie, praising his dedication during challenging scenes shot in Scotland.

Ranbir Kapoor delved into the theme of violence in "Animal," stating, "Violence is a reflection of the mind, exploring what it thinks and what the human mind is capable of. It raises questions about morality in society – is Bobby sir the antagonist, or am I? Who is right, who is wrong? These are the inquiries that, as a society and audience, we'll begin grappling with after watching this film."

He put emphasis, that he remains a detached person and doesn't bring his characters home, as It’s not fair for my loved ones. He clarified that if he went home like his character from the film, his wife (Alia Bhatt) would have bashed him up. 

Ranbir Kapoor revealed that during the filming of "Animal," he had recently become a father. He described the surreal experience of portraying a character deeply attached to his father on set and then returning home to be with his newborn daughter.
