Prominent television and film producer Ekta Kapoor, along with her mother Shobha Kapoor, has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The allegations pertain to the portrayal of minor actors in inappropriate scenes in the web series Gandi Baat.
The case, filed on October 18, involves explicit content from three web series, including Class of 2017 and Class of 2020. The complaint was lodged by Swapnil Rewaji, a 39-year-old yoga instructor from Borivali, Mumbai. Rewaji had initially filed the complaint at the MHB police station in 2021 but later escalated it to the Borivali court.
Ekta Kapoor Maintains Silence Amidst Legal Trouble
Despite the serious nature of the charges, Ekta Kapoor has chosen not to comment publicly on the matter. However, a close friend revealed to Zoom, "If Ekta is disturbed, she’s not showing it. She is a strong woman and will fight this with all her might. But it won’t be easy as POCSO is a stringent law. Ekta is particularly concerned for her 75-year-old mother, and she hopes to have her name cleared from the case."
In a previous interview, Ekta Kapoor discussed her leadership role in her company, stating that she takes full responsibility for all creative decisions. She emphasised that while she values open discussions, she ultimately owns up to her mistakes and ensures her company is aligned with her vision.
