Yash Raj Films (YRF) has announced its next major project, "Alpha," which will be part of its renowned Spy Universe. This eagerly anticipated movie will feature acclaimed actresses Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. Alia Bhatt unveiled the news through an Instagram post where she introduced the film's title with a dramatic audio backdrop. In the video, Alia's voiceover declares, "Greek alphabet ka sabse pehla akshar. Aur humare programme ka motto.. sabse pehle, sabse tezz, sabs veer. Dhyaan se dekho toh har sheher mein ek jungle hai. Aur jungle mein hamesha Raj karega..ALPHA!” The video concludes with the text "filming now," signaling that production is underway. Alia captioned the post, “It's the time of the ALPHA... Girls!” and tagged Sharvari.
The announcement was met with an outpouring of enthusiasm from fans and celebrities alike. Alia’s sister, Shaheen Bhatt, exclaimed, “LET'S GO,” while filmmaker Tahira Kashyap and actress Pashmina Roshan expressed their excitement with emojis. Even Anil Kapoor joined in, showing his support with fire, thumbs up, and raising hands emojis.
A Star-Studded Cast and a Promising Future
Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha will be the seventh installment in the YRF Spy Universe, a franchise that began with the Tiger series featuring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif. The Spy Universe kicked off with Ek Tha Tiger, followed by Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, and Tiger 3. Upcoming projects include War 2 by Ayan Mukerji, Pathaan 2, and Tiger vs Pathaan.
Speculation about Alia Bhatt joining the YRF Spy Universe was confirmed in March by YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani at FICCI Frames. He revealed that Alia would headline a Spy Universe film, starting production later this year. Widhani emphasized the significant cultural and financial impact of the YRF Spy Universe, calling it one of the studio’s most prized intellectual properties.
Adding to the excitement, a Deadline report disclosed that Bobby Deol will also appear in "Alpha," alongside Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. With such a stellar cast and the backing of YRF's successful franchise, "Alpha" is set to be a thrilling addition to the Spy Universe, promising high-octane action and captivating performances.
