A lawsuit has been filed against Jamie Foxx, the acclaimed actor and musician, by a woman who claims he sexually assaulted her at a rooftop bar in August 2015. The legal action was taken just before the expiration of the New York Survivors Act, allowing adult survivors of sexual assault to sue within a year regardless of the statute of limitations.
According to the lawsuit filed in the New York Supreme Court, the woman alleges that Foxx touched her inappropriately and made suggestive comments while taking pictures with her and a friend. The incident allegedly escalated as Foxx proceeded to touch her intimately despite her attempts to move away.
The suit also implicates the rooftop bar, Catch NYC & Roof, along with its owner and staff, accusing them of negligence in ensuring the safety of their patrons. It claims that despite witnessing the situation, a security guard did not intervene.
The lawsuit details the woman's distress, citing emotional and physical damages requiring medical treatment. She is seeking unspecified damages for the ordeal. Foxx's representatives have yet to respond to the allegations, and Catch NYC & Roof, as well as its owner, have not issued statements regarding the lawsuit.
