28th European Union Film Festival Set to Begin in New Delhi, Featuring 28 Films in 25 Languages

The European Union Film Festival (EUFF), in its 28th iteration, is scheduled to begin in New Delhi on December 1. Over the span of ten days, 28 films in 25 languages will be screened at the festival. The event honors the cinematic relationship that exists between India and the European Union.

Three venues—the Indian Habitat Center, the Instituto Cervantes (Spanish Cultural Center), and the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan—will host the screenings. Award-winning movies from all 28 European nations are screened at the festival, giving viewers a one-of-a-kind chance to see a "Window to Europe." The vast diversity and cultural legacy of European cinema are honored at the European Union Film Festival. The festival, which transcends boundaries, emphasizes the ability of film to foster communal experiences.

The festival honors European cinema's rich cultural legacy and diversity. With 28 films from 28 European nations in 25 different languages, the "free for all" festival, hosted by the EU Delegation to India, EU Member State Embassies, and regional partners, will provide moviegoers an amazing cinematic experience. The festival honors Women in Cinema and the craft of conveying stories from the perspective of women by showcasing films from eighteen female directors.

The EUFF 2023 theme is "Women in Cinema." The festival honors the contributions of vibrant, unique, and self-reliant female filmmakers who have influenced the direction of European cinema. The festival strives to offer audiences to a variety of genres, including dramas, heartbreaking documentaries, lighthearted comedies, and thought-provoking narratives by highly brilliant female directors from European cinema. This is achieved through a carefully curated roster of cinematic jewels spanning 25 languages. Our goal at the European Union is to recognize the extraordinary influence these remarkable women have had on global film. The 28th European Union Film Festival will showcase the works of renowned directors, including Alice Diop, Justine Triet, Carla Simon, and Maren Ade.
