Witness the burning city of Jharia, where a fire has been raging for over 100 years!

The fire that started in 1916 is still burning. Jharkhand, known as the coal capital of India, has 86,000 million tonnes of coal reserves.

However, the coal mines here are on fire, producing methane and carbon monoxide, poisonous gases that force the people of Jharkhand to leave their cities. Walking here, you can see flames and smoke, destroying the land and burying countless dreams and homes.
