'One Colour, One Uniform', drive started by Maharashtra Prathamik Shikshan Parishad got a break in the middle of the discussion. It was said that all the government schools in Maharashtra will have the same uniforms and the contract for them will be given by the government to a single dealer, but no execution has been seen till date.
Schools are about to start from 15th of June. There is less than a month remaining for it and the government has not confirmed the vendor and distributor. Parents are wondering about how the government will be able to execute this in less than a month. There are even no instructions for schools to note down the measurements of students.
Every year, the government deposits a certain amount as a grant for uniforms in the school’s bank account or uses Direct Bank Facility to transfer money to parent’s accounts for the same. But this year the process has changed and nothing has been done. Government officials from the State Principals Federation and Primary Education Administration are saying that there is no official circulation or official communication from the department regarding this but the state will soon purchase stocks of clothes. There are discussions that the state may opt for a 50-50 formula for uniforms.
