The central government has called for significant initiatives to achieve the goal of 100% literacy in an effort to transform the nation into a developed nation by 2047. A fresh literacy campaign has also been planned in response to this.
Every college and university student will be required to instruct at least five illiterate students annually. Students will also receive credit scores as a result of this, which will be added to their course grades.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has directed all universities and other higher educational institutions to start implementing the new literacy programme as of the start of the new academic year. Additionally, a comprehensive guideline has been developed, to which each course's project work and assignments are expected to be linked.

This plan, according to sources, will give up to five credit scores for teaching an illiterate person. It won't be given to the student until they have their literacy certificate. At every university, a few centres will be set up on behalf of the state government.
UGC claims that this strategy will improve the literacy program. Literacy rates in the nation currently hover around 78 percent. In contrast, the new campaign that began with this has set a goal of 100%.
