Delhi University’s Academic Council (AC) on Friday got a number free from prospectuses changes, including the rejecting of writer Mohd Iqbal from the BA political theory schedule, authorities mindful of the matter said. They went on to say that the council also approved plans to establish new centers for Hindu Studies, Tribal Studies, and Partition Studies. One of the most well-known Urdu and Persian poets from the Indian subcontinent is Iqbal, who is best known for writing the popular song "Sare jahan se acha Hindustan hamara." He is frequently referred to by the honorific Allama and was thought to have created Pakistan. Additionally, he was Pakistan's national poet.
The syllabi and proposals for establishing various centers, according to DU registrar Vikas Gupta, were approved at the council meeting on Friday. The establishment of centers for Partition, Hindu, and Tribal studies has received approval. Mohd Iqbal has been dropped from the prospectus," said Gupta. Iqbal was mentioned in the "Modern Indian political thought" paper for the BA in political science. The recommendations will require a last blessing from the college's leader chamber (EC), which is planned to meet next on June 9.
The Delhi unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad expressed their approval of the decision to eliminate Iqbal from the curriculum in a statement. The religious theologian Mohd Iqbal was removed from the political science curriculum at Delhi University by the academic council. The title "philosophical father of Pakistan" is given to Mohd Iqbal. He was instrumental in establishing Jinnah as the Muslim League leader. The student group said in the statement, "Mohd Iqbal is as responsible for India's Partition as Mohammad Ali Jinnah is."
According to the officials, the council also discussed the syllabi for undergraduate courses in the fourth, fifth, and sixth semesters as well as the adoption of the four-year integrated teacher education program (ITEP) by the university starting in the 2023–24 academic year. The AC, which has more than 100 members, deliberated for a full day. The Partition Studies proposal was criticized as "divisive" by at least five council members. The center proposal is intended to cause division. According to its mission, the center will investigate 1300 years of invasions, suffering, and slavery. A statement that was signed by five AC members stated, "It is offensive, communally divisive, and intellectually coherent." "A conversation on 1300 years will just give an open door to venomous common discourses," the assertion said.
