Are we truly free if our choices are limited to accepting a mere Rs 1500? The Illusion of Freedom
The recent Maharashtra elections have seen promises of financial aid, such as the Rs 1500 monthly stipend for women aged 21 to 60. While this initiative may seem beneficial, it raises critical questions about dependency and empowerment. Can we really consider this a solution when educated women could potentially earn far more through their careers? The true value lies in education and skill development, which can yield returns far greater than a meager monthly allowance.
Understanding the Source of These Funds
It's crucial to recognize that these stipends come from taxpayer money. The politicians are not gifting us their wealth; they are redistributing our hard-earned taxes. This raises an important question: why are we settling for such minimal support when we should be demanding comprehensive solutions?
What Should Politicians Offer Instead?
Free Education: There has been a long-standing recognition of education as a universal right-the lifeline to individual and societal growth. In lieu of granting a few hundred rupees in cash, we have an argument that should press for a system that promises free and quality education for every child. That again invites multilateral investment in the government schools, which are supposed to remain under-funded and resource-poor. Therefore, these schools must be facilitated with qualified teachers who are not only knowledgeable but also passionate regarding education. For learning to be accessed by every child, ensuring that the schools have good structures in respect of the educational system is important.
A well-structured educational system will empower future generations to equip them with skills to survive in an increasingly competitive world. Education, therefore, needs to cater to individual needs, provide inclusiveness, and ensure that no child gets left behind.
Accessible Healthcare: Access to healthcare is another critical issue that demands attention. Many individuals avoid government hospitals due to their poor conditions, which can deter them from seeking necessary medical care. It is essential for the government to commit to improving healthcare facilities, ensuring they are clean, well-maintained, and adequately staffed. This includes not only physical infrastructure but also the integration of digital tools that enhance patient care and accessibility.
Job Creation: The challenge of unemployment remains particularly acute for middle and lower-class individuals who often struggle to find opportunities within multinational corporations. To address this issue effectively, the government should prioritize job creation in public sectors such as railways, military services, and other government initiatives. These sectors can provide stable employment opportunities that are accessible to a broader demographic. Additionally, vocational training programs should be established to equip individuals with the skills necessary for various trades and professions.
Safety and Security: Safety is a growing concern for many residents in states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Fear of crime can really affect daily life and community wellness. Citizens must request their leaders to improve the law enforcement practices in addition to safety measures in the community.

Not only does that mean more police presence in vulnerable areas, but community policing strategies, which really build trust between the enforcement agencies and the residents, are also crucial.
