The United Kingdom is making headway in its plans to launch its own digital currency, dubbed 'Britcoin.' The goal of the project is to make the UK a leader in the field of digital currencies and blockchain technology.
The Bank of England announced the project in March 2021, with the aim of launching the Britcoin by mid-2022. The new digital currency will be fully backed by the Bank of England, meaning that it will be just as secure as traditional fiat currencies.
