The Reserve Bank of India has revised the bank locker guidelines.

These guidelines were issued to ensure the safety of one’s valuable things.

Customers can take advantage of this offer by renewing their contracts before December 31st, which will then follow the new guidelines.

Then the new contract signed by the customer will help them get compensation worth 100 times the amount that was charged for the bank locker.

This contract will kick in if their valuables are stolen, misplaced due to the bank's negligence, or misplaced while being stored in the bank, destroyed in a fire, collapsed during construction, or the building itself.

If something similar to the situation described above occurred in the bank prior to the release of these guidelines, the bank would not be held liable.

The new guidelines issued by the RBI are not known to many of the customers. Thereby, many of the customers have not renewed their contract with their bank.

Not only was compensation involved in the guidelines, but there were also other things present for the safety of the valuables. For example: keys, CCTV installation, SMS, emails, and more.

The bank must send details of when the bank locker was opened, like the date and time, to customers.

which will be sent to the registered email ID of the customer and also via SMS to their registered phone number with the bank.

RBI's new bank locker guidelines ensure the safety of valuables in bank lockers.

If there is no vacant bank locker in the bank, the person waiting for the bank locker will be given a number, and according to that number, a later-seeking person will be allotted a vacant bank locker when one becomes available.

If the bank has vacant bank lockers, they should record the number of vacant bank lockers in their system (computer or laptop).

Banks should install CCTV inside locker rooms so that they can detect unauthorised entry. which will then be preserved, and the police will investigate. which is to be done in accordance with RBI.

The locker keys must be imprinted with the bank code. Precautions should be taken against the hackers, preventing them from hacking into the system using any electronic systems.
