Tesla's cheapest two-door car at Rs.20 lacs launching soon in India

India, be ready for Tesla. The company owned by billionaire Elon Musk, Tesla’s upcoming €25,000 model, the most affordable by the company, is set for a launch in Germany as a two-door car, with further plans for release in India.

The unnamed electric car, possibly a two-door SUV or sedan priced at 20 Lakh INR, is part of Tesla's product development strategy. The development of this car is currently in the planning stages. If confirmed, this would mark Tesla's second model intended for Indian Markets, following the Model Y, Moneycontrol Exclusive Reports says.

Despite an unanswered query to Tesla's global spokesperson, the company has invested €5 billion in establishing a Gigafactory in Brandenburg, Germany – its inaugural European facility.

The unnamed electric car, possibly a two-door SUV or sedan priced at 20 Lakh INR, is part of Tesla's product development strategy.

Presently, the facility produces the Model Y crossover, with plans to expand production to 1 million units annually. The company is gearing up to introduce the €25,000 car from this facility in the medium term.

In terms of India, the unnamed car, priced at Rs 20 lakh, is initially expected to follow the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) route, with imported kits from Germany. Subsequently, there are plans for extensive localization in India. 

Minister Piyush Goyal has previously mentioned Tesla's intention to double the number of components imported from India, signaling the company's continued expansion in the country.
