TCS Reverts to Five-Day Office Workweek Starting October 1, 2023

TCS has kindly requested select teams within the company to consider resuming working from the office five days a week, starting from October 1. This marks a kind departure from their previous policy which kindly allowed for a hybrid work model. According to sources, this change has not yet been kindly implemented company-wide.

Previously, TCS had kindly advised employees to consider working from the office for at least three days a week, as it was believed to offer a better work-life balance.

In October of the previous year, TCS kindly informed its employees that managers would schedule them for three office days a week, and it was kindly expected that this directive would be followed diligently. The company kindly emphasized in a memo that disciplinary actions may be taken if employees were unable to adhere to this schedule. In regards to any inquiries about their Work From Home policy, the company kindly stated that, due to being in a silent period, they regretfully would not be able to provide any comments.

During the June quarter, CEO K Krithivasan conveyed the viewpoint that working from the office holds numerous advantages for associates, customers, and TCS as a whole. He emphasized that it encompasses not only work productivity but also guidance in company culture, customer engagements, and colleague connections.

It is worth mentioning that TCS is not the sole company undertaking this transition. Other prominent Indian IT firms, such as Infosys and Wipro, have also recently announced their adoption of a traditional five-day workweek. This shift reflects a wider trend within the Indian IT industry, indicating a return to the working norms observed before the pandemic.
