TATA to supply 25000 electric sedans to Uber
In India's bigger order for electric vehicles, Tata Motors, the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles in the country, has agreed to supply Uber's fleet partners with 25,000 of its X-Pres-T electric sedans. A senior executive at Tata Motors claims that the cars will be delivered in 12 to 15 months. He went on to say that the order is more than twice as big as the 10,000 cars it bought from BluSmart last year.
The electric fleet would be available in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad. The price of a single XPRES–T unit starts at Rs 13.04 lakh ex-showroom. The X-Pres-T, which has a range of 315 kilometers and costs Rs 14.98 lakh ex-showroom, comes with a Rs 2.6 lakh FAME subsidy.
The move towards electric vehicles is part of a larger global trend towards sustainability and reducing carbon emissions. Electric vehicles are seen as a more environmentally friendly and sustainable mode of transportation, and their adoption is expected to increase in the coming years.
By partnering with TATA Motors, Uber can potentially expand its fleet of electric vehicles and reduce its carbon footprint, while TATA can leverage its expertise in electric vehicle manufacturing to tap into the growing demand for eco-friendly vehicles.
