Reliance just acquired 50% in Sosyo

 

A 50% stake of Sosyo Hajoori Beverages (SHBPL), a beverage company headquartered in Gujarat, has been acquired by Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG arm of Reliance Retail Ventures.

Sosyo Hajoori is a heritage Indian brand with a legacy of nearly 100 years in carbonated soft drinks and Juices. It was founded by Abbas Abdulrahim Hajoori in 1923 and is a leading player in local soft drink market.

Popular brands under the Hajoori umbrella are its flagship Sosyo, Kashmira, Lemee, Ginlim, Runner, Oppener, Hajoori Soda and S’eau. The beverage brand claims of a loyal customer base in home-state, Gujarat.

The existing promoters, Hajoori family, will continue to own the remaining stake in SHBPL. And with this deal, Reliance will strengthen its beverages portfolio since it has also the beverage brand Campa under its wing.

Executive Director, Reliance Retail Ventures Limited Isha Ambani said, “This investment helps us take forward our vision of empowering local heritage brands and presenting them with new growth opportunities.”.
