Amazon founder Jeff Bezos may be considering selling The Washington Post to purchase the American football team, the Washington Commanders, according to reports from the New York Post.
The Commanders, owned by Dan Snyder, have won three Super Bowls and are seen by potential investors as a franchise with great potential in a large market. If Bezos were to purchase the team, it would be his second sports team, following his ownership of the Seattle Seahawks.
But Bezos has a problem because the newspaper's series of exposes about the football team's toxic management culture continue to irritate the embattled owner, Dan Snyder.
Bezos may even be suspected by Snyder of encouraging the tough coverage in 2020 in order to force him to sell his team, according to some. Bezos, who has owned The Washington Post since 2013, would be making a significant move in any case.
