Amazon has been sued by the Federal Trade Commission on 19th June 2023, Wednesday. As tech Jargon allegedly played tricks to fetch more subscribers for their media platform ”Amazon Prime Video”. This has got into a bigger crisis, as the company has made their cancellation plans very complex to the users, indirectly persuading them to not cancel their subscriptions.
This lawsuit was filed, in the Western District of Washington, concerning their persuasive actions. Experts say that the company has used “dark patterns” which will tend to manipulate the users, in an indirect and incognito manner.
Amazon tricked and trapped people into recurring subscriptions without their consent, not only frustrating users but also costing them significant money," Lina Khan, Lina Khan, mentioned in a statement.
