Xiaomi, renowned for its smartphones and consumer electronics, is venturing into the electric vehicle (EV) market with the debut of its first electric sedan, the SU7. Unveiled on its 10th anniversary in India, the Xiaomi SU7 represents a leap into the future of transportation with its full-size, high-performance eco-technology design.

Alongside this milestone, Xiaomi introduces five core EV technologies: E-Motor, CTB Integrated Battery, Xiaomi Die-Casting, Xiaomi Pilot Autonomous Driving, and Smart Cabin. This innovation reflects Xiaomi's dedication, supported by a global team of over 3,400 engineers and 1,000 technical experts, in shaping cutting-edge automotive advancements.

How Does It Look?

Xiaomi's SU7 Max, a cornerstone of their "Human x Car x Home" smart ecosystem, boasts 673 horsepower and a remarkable 800 km range on a single charge. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.78 seconds with 838 nm of torque, it reaches speeds up to 265 km/h. Designed for safety, it features a top-tier braking system, stopping from 100 km/h in just 33.3 meters. The model ensures security with a robust steel-aluminium alloy cage and includes 16 active safety features for comprehensive 360° protection.

Positioned as a luxury C-class sedan, the Xiaomi SU7 incorporates a 16.1-inch 3K ultra-clear central screen, a 56-inch HUD, and a rotating dashboard for a ceremonious startup. It supports up to five screens, including Xiaomi tablets, creating a seamless in-car connectivity experience. Not available in the Indian market, the SU7's sleek, low-slung design reminiscent of the Porsche Taycan features teardrop-shaped LED headlights, up to 21-inch alloy wheels, connected LED tail lights, and an active rear spoiler, achieving an impressive air drag coefficient of 0.195.

Interior & Features

The Xiaomi SU7 features a sleek interior highlighted by a three-spoke steering wheel and a sizable 16.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The steering wheel incorporates two buttons reminiscent of Porsche models: one for activating autonomous driving and another for boost mode.

Key features of the SU7 include a 7-inch digital driver’s display, 56-inch heads-up display, wireless phone charging, panoramic glass roof, powered front seats with active side support, and a premium 25-speaker sound system. Safety measures include seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) equipped with LiDAR technology. ADAS features include automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, and adaptive high beam.

Since its launch in 2014, Xiaomi has achieved significant success, selling 350 million devices in India, with 250 million being smartphones. Over the next decade, the company aims to double its impact by targeting the shipment of 700 million devices across various categories in India.

Is Xiaomi SU7 launching in India?

Xiaomi's SU7, although not yet slated for release in India, marks a strategic move by Xiaomi to expand its product lineup. This showcase reflects Xiaomi's interest in entering the growing Indian EV market, potentially heightening competition alongside other global contenders aiming to establish a foothold in the region.

While Xiaomi has not officially announced the SU7's launch in India, it is currently priced between ¥ 215,900 and ¥ 299,900 in China (approximately Rs 24.78 lakh to Rs 34.43 lakh). In India, if launched, the SU7 would compete with models like the BYD Seal and Hyundai Ioniq 5, offering a more affordable option compared to luxury vehicles such as the BMW i4.
