Volvo cars plan to go fully electric in India by around 2025
Volvo Cars plan to go fully electric in India as early as 2025, well ahead of its global goal of becoming a fully electric car company by 2030.
The company currently offers a range of electric vehicles in the Indian market, including the XC40 Recharge, XC60, and S90 sedans. Volvo plans to import both the XC40 BEV and the C40 BEV as completely knocked down (CKD) units and assemble them at its Bengaluru plant. Last year, the company sold around 1,800 units in India and expects to record its best sales, bettering the previous highest of 2,600 units sold in 2018.
Volvo Cars have announced plans to become a fully electric car company by 2030, and it has set an interim target of having 50% of its global sales come from fully electric cars by 2025. This announcement is part of Volvo's broader sustainability ambitions, which include plans to reduce its carbon footprint and achieve climate-neutral manufacturing operations by 2025.
