Swiggy, a leading food delivery platform, revealed on Thursday that an Idli enthusiast from Hyderabad spent a whopping Rs 6 lakh on this south Indian delicacy over the course of the previous year.
While traveling between Bengaluru and Chennai, the user placed orders for 8,428 Idlis plates, including those for friends and family.
Swiggy released its analysis for the time period from March 30, 2022, to March 25, 2023, on March 30, World Idli Day. It sheds new light on how well-liked the south Indian delicacy is.
In the past year, Swiggy has delivered 33 million Idlis to customers, demonstrating the dish's immense popularity.
Idlis are ordered the most frequently in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai. Mumbai, Coimbatore, Pune, Vizag, Delhi, Kolkata, and Kochi are the next closest cities.
Customers from Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Coimbatore, and Mumbai also request idlis at suppertime, according to the study. The most popular time to order idlis is between 8 and 10 a.m.
It also demonstrates that plain Idli is the most popular variant in all cities, with the most common order being a plate of two pieces.
While ghee/neyi karam podi idli is popular in cities across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, Rava Idli is more popular in Bangalore than in any other city. Thatte idli and scaled down idli likewise include consistently among idli orders across all urban communities.
