Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) launches ‘Sustainability Garage’, What is it?

In collaboration with the Prayoga Institute of Educational Research, Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India (MBRDI) has launched the 'Sustainability Garage', an initiative to promote innovation in sustainable mobility.

The Sustainability Garage, MBRDI's CSR initiative, is intended to serve as a hub for multidisciplinary research aimed at developing eco-friendly materials with a wide range of applications.

The initiative's goal is to promote academic-industry collaboration, thereby driving research and innovation in sustainable materials and technology.

Under the initiative, MBRDI has collaborated to develop specialised course material, and over 150 students from six Karnataka universities - Jain University, RV Institution, JSS Science and Technology University, Vijaya College, Nrupatunga Institution, and St. Joseph's University - will attend curated workshops and experiment with research equipment.

According to Manu Saale, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Research and Development India, "Researchers at MBRDI are deeply engaged in ensuring sustainability as a core priority - from analysing materials to design greener products or better battery chemistry to pivoting increasingly towards digital engineering processes that reduce emissions or waste."  as quoted in a report by The Hindu

With its innovative facilities, the Sustainability Garage will function as a hub for multidisciplinary study, with an emphasis on developing eco-friendly materials with a wide range of uses that will benefit society.
