Audi inaugurates country's fastest EV charging hub in Mumbai

Audi just opened up India's inaugural super speedy charging station in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Mumbai. This cutting-edge charger, created in partnership with ChargeZone, packs a whopping 450kW capacity, providing an impressive 360kW of power to electric vehicles. It's equipped with a 500 amps liquid-cooled gun to guarantee top-notch performance and efficiency.

The Audi Q8 55 e-tron boasts a massive 114 kWh battery, making it the largest battery ever seen on a passenger vehicle in India. What's even more impressive is its charging speed. In just 26 minutes, it can go from 20% to 80% charged, thanks to its ultra-fast charging capabilities. And in line with Audi's commitment to sustainability, the charging station, known as the 'e-tron hub', is powered entirely by green energy. To top it off, the 'e-tron hub' even has a solar roof that helps meet its peripheral electrical needs, including lighting.

As per the Indian Express, Alexander von Waldenburg-Dresel, Senior Director, Sales Region Overseas, Audi AG, expressed his thoughts on the matter, stating, "Audi is dedicated to enhancing the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, and I am delighted that Audi in India has taken the initiative in this regard. The establishment of India's fastest EV charger in Mumbai is a remarkable achievement and showcases the progress of EVs in the country. This rapid charger will provide customers in Mumbai with the convenience of on-the-go charging."

Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India said, “The ultra-fast charging ‘e-tron hub’ is located in the heart of Mumbai – Bandra Kurla Complex; which is accessible to a large number of electric vehicle owners. The rapid charging infrastructure is pivotal in alleviating concerns about range limitations, ensuring a seamless experience and considerably less charging time. We are not only establishing new benchmarks within the industry but also reinforcing our dedication to the future of sustainable mobility.” as quoted in Indian Express.

The 'e-tron hub' offers a super speedy charging experience, complete with a cosy lounge where e-tron owners can unwind while their car gets juiced up. Trained staff will be on hand at the hub to provide any assistance needed. Audi e-tron owners can conveniently access all the details about the ultra-fast charging 'e-tron hub' through their 'myAudi Connect' App, making it a breeze to find their way there.

Audi India recently launched a groundbreaking feature called 'Charge my Audi' on the myAudiConnect app. This innovative solution allows Audi e-tron customers to conveniently access multiple electric vehicle charging partners through a single app. 'Charge my Audi' is the first of its kind in the industry and aims to enhance customer convenience. Currently, the application includes five charging partners namely Aargo EV Smart, Charge Zone, Relux Electric, LionCharge, and Zeon Charging, all powered by the Numocity Technologies eMSP roaming solution.

Until March 2024, Audi e-tron customers can enjoy free charging at all charging stations in the network (excluding Zeon charging). At the moment, there are over 1,000 charge points available on 'Charge my Audi' for Audi e-tron owners, and more will be added in the coming months. In India, Audi has installed over 140 chargers in 73 cities, including Audi dealerships, workshop facilities, and select SAVWIPL Group brand dealerships along important highways, making ownership more convenient.
