Indore Water Crisis: Protests Erupt as Tanker Mafia Charges ₹500!

The water crisis in India’s cleanest city has reached a boiling point.

With the groundwater table plummeting and over 3,500 of Indore’s 6,500 government borewells drying up, residents in areas like Gauri Nagar and Veena Nagar are facing an acute shortage.

The situation has triggered mass protests, with citizens blocking roads and demanding action.

The frustration is compounded by allegations of a "tanker mafia," where private operators are reportedly charging desperate residents between ₹200 and ₹500 per tanker.

While the administration claims the situation will normalize soon, the daily struggle for basic water persists.

Are authorities doing enough to regulate water distribution, or is this the new reality for Indore?
